Modern culture loves to preach a watered-down version of manhood. It tells men to sit on the sidelines, keep their heads down, avoid friction, and keep their faith tucked neatly into a Sunday morning. The world wants comfortable, passive, agreeable men who won’t make waves.
The problem is that real life doesn’t work that way.
If you’re a husband, a father, a business owner, a veteran, or a first responder, you know the stakes are high. You carry real weight every single day. You make decisions that mold your family, protect your household, and influence a culture that is actively hostile to biblical values. You’re not built for the sidelines. The front lines are where you belong.
That’s why gatherings like the upcoming 1613 Men’s Conference are so critical. This is more than just checking a box by attending church every Sunday. It’s more than sitting through a feel-good sermon that fires you up for an hour and fades by Monday morning. This conference is about real faith. Real faith is forged in the real world.
Standing Firm in the Battle
The foundation of this entire movement is anchored in 1 Corinthians 16:13: “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”
Think about what those words actually mean. Paul isn’t making a gentle suggestion, but giving a tactical directive. Those words are aimed at believers who are facing intense pressure. He tells us to be watchful, to maintain situational awareness against the spiritual attacks trying to infiltrate our homes and marriages. Paul tells us to stand firm, refusing to compromise when the culture tries to bend us. Paul tells us to act like men and be strong, not through our own arrogant self-reliance, but through the power of God.
Most men are trying to fight spiritual warfare with civilian habits. They’re trying to lead their families, conquer secret addictions, and protect their minds without a battle plan and without a platoon. When you try to go it alone, the enemy isolates, overwhelms, and picks you apart.
We need a massive course correction. We need an environment where men can drop the fake masks, stop hiding their struggles, and lock shields with brothers who are running toward the sound of the gunfire.
A Solid Lineup
I’m proud to announce that I’ll be speaking at the 1613 Men’s Conference, coming up on July 16-17, 2027, at the Truist Arena at Northern Kentucky University.
This event isn’t built on theory. It’s built on hard-earned truth. That truth is delivered by men who have led in combat zones, high-stakes business boardrooms, and the brutal trenches of life. Alongside myself (a retired SEAL Team 6 operator who knows what it means to face the fire and hit rock bottom, before finding true redemption in Christ) – the speaker lineup features an incredible roster of leaders who refuse to sugarcoat the truth.
